Home Teeth
Whitening
Teeth whitening is becoming more and more
popular now because it is a simple fix to improving your
physical appearance. A whiter and brighter smile can
shave five years off of someone's appearance and make them more
confident. With the demand for this procedure, there are
teeth whitening salons popping up all over the place and when
people see them, they often wonder how home teeth whitening differs from salon
teeth whitening and the benefits of home teeth
whitening.
The first thing to point out is that the
salon teeth whitening procedures are not regulated at all by
any type of agency. They are using peroxides that are
highly concentrated and are typically found in dental
offices. Using peroxides at that concentration level can
be dangerous if you don't know or understand what you are doing
and could lead to permanent damage to your tooth enamel.
Also because the people performing these procedures are not
dentists or even dental assistants, they might not be able to
properly administer the peroxides and cause irreversible damage
to your gums and teeth. At least with home teeth
whitening, you know what you are getting
into.
When you purchase a home teeth whitening
kit, the kit goes through different types of inspection before
it gets put on the shelves. It cannot contain very high
amounts of peroxides, so the whitening process is more
gradual. Because it is more gradual, you can really
control the degree of whiteness for a more natural look.
Also, because the doses are so low, the chance of doing
permanent damage to your tooth enamel is very minimal.
